Just finished reading American Gods. Very good book, though I wish now I had more background in the area.


I like the way that Shadow apparently never figures out who he is.

You don't need that much background because *pssssst* Gaiman just made a lot of it up from known fragments.

yeah, but it's fun to know which bits are fragments and which bits he made up if i'd known more about, say, german folklore, i would have been able to get one of the plot threads much earlier, for example.
