Long sharp pointy things in 3D? No, Beowulf already did that.

Cows are long sharp and pointy?

[identity profile] timeplease.livejournal.com 2007-12-04 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, bits of them are!

pointy cow is pointy (and probably unresolvable)

Bang on.

This demonstrates stereopsis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereopsis), which is depth perception based on the variance between the images the different eyes receive. I decided to make an example which kept the other 2 variables (absolute size of objects, and convergance) the same, but induce stereopsis, to see what effect it had in isolation.

The use of cows was of course necessary for the joke, and the fact that cows are a known size.

I LOLed.

Hmmm....

On closer inspection, I see it's clearly a photoshopped rendering of a teapot (http://xkcd.com/331/).

Stereoscopic udders! Wheeeee!

[identity profile] boykitten.livejournal.com 2007-12-05 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)

on careful consideration i see horns and udders... wtf?

[identity profile] abigailb.livejournal.com 2007-12-05 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
That'd not occured to me. But according to the internets, some cattle breeds have horns in both sexes.

cattle can be gender deviant too!
