i have been continuing to read too many comics. if anything, my habit has got worse since since september. Let's see what's on my list at the moment.

astonishing x-men. this is the title being written by joss whedon. it's taken a long while to get this far - the first issue of joss's story arc shipped in 2004, well before i started reading, even, which is making things a little odd. #23 had the most awesome moment ever. "what else have you been lying about?". #24 out next month i think, followed by a special. warren_ellis is taking over thereafter.
x-men, uncanny x-men, x-factor, new x-men are currently in the middle of Messiah Complex, a big-ass crossover. a little slow so far, but there was just a big reveal. it should lead up to a big reshake.
two more wolverine comics launch next month! (in addition to the ongoing series "Wolverine" and "Wolverine: Origins"). one is a period Wolverine/Kitty Pryde teamup book, the other is called "Logan" and i haven't been inclined to read anything about it. I like Kitty Pryde and may get that one. shame that she doesn't appear to have made it back from the events of the current Astonishing arc.
x-men: first class, featuring the original lineup as kids being taught by professor x. this is teh awesome.
x-men: emperor vulcan is a hell of a lot better than the year-long rise and fall of the shiar empire story it was a sequel too.
mighty avengers FINALLY finished the Ultron storyline, leaving it a couple of months behind synchronous events happening in new x-men. rather lightweight for a story that took a year to come out. oh well.
new avengers, avengers: the iniative are getting rather skrully.
captain marvel is not skrully, because he's a kree.

she-hulk is pretty skrully as well. but nice skrulls.

the order suddenly took a turn for interesting, with the picking up of a plot thread from the recent the sub-mariner miniseries.
captain america is still dead. bucky looks like he is putting on the costume, though.
spider-man: one more day has just resulted in the erasing of Peter and MJ's marriage and making everyone forget that Peter had unmasked during civil war, etc. I do not think this is a good idea (but this doesn't mean I am going to call for the assassination of Joe Quesada), but I rather suspect there is more going on than immediately seems. This is potentially a continuity nightmare. Parker is only in New Avengers right now as a consequence of the civil war. He's still wearing the black costume and therefore is pre-OMD. It will be interesting to see if he just vanishes from that title, or if he starts wearing red/blue costume again, or what. Avengers: The Iniative #7 set up a curious out they could use. Anyway, I'm probably going to pick up Brand New Day for a few issues, to see how it's like, and then probably drop it because it's not what I want.
ultimate power, a crossover between the ultimates and the squadron supreme. rather disappointing, ultimately.
Thor just brought back loki, as, so far as i can tell, a girl.
The Twelve is out soon. This brings back 12 random WW2-era marvel superheroes, who (a la Cap) have been in suspended animation since the war. we see how they adjust and stuff. that's what the solicits say, anyway. will pick this up.
Runaways has I'm not sure whether it's shipped an issue since I last made a post about it. but anyway, it is awesome and you should read it.

Buffy season 8 continues good. I picked up an Angel: After the Fall comic (same idea, Angel season 6) and was rather confused by it. what? wesley is a ghost? gunn is a vampire?, before i realised that it was issue #2. doh.

by the way, i am happy to lend stuffs to peoples.

that's quite a list- certainly makes me feel better about my comic book buying habits :)

don't read much marvel these days (having pretty definitively switched allegiances to the other place)- some ultimate bits, wolvie: origins (which is, i think, an interesting idea, albeit rather poorly imagined) and that's about it..

am really looking forward to the twelve, tho, and the tpb of endangered species, too; and i will actually make a start on new x-men one day- i'm a huge grant morrison fan, and always liked the idea of him having shaken things up a bit when it started :)

always quite liked the skrull, too..

It's getting to be long enough that it would make sense for me to have a pull list. That's scary. Actually, it's merely scary that I know what a pull list is, when just 2 years ago I was excited about having bought my first actual comic book.

I'm not buying any of The Other Place's books at the moment, although I have read a few Wildstorm trades (Planetary, The Authority) recently and may expand this. Oh, and Y. It probably doesn't make sense for me to investigate the Other Place between-Crisises anyhow?

Morrison's run on New X-Men is well worth reading, although about the only thing left standing from it is having Jean still dead and Scott/Emma (I can see from an editorial point of view why they did that, as it is hard to reconcile the New X-Men world with the general marvel world.)

i assume you've been keeping up with endangered species, then, judging by the list- what's your verdict?

it's true both infinite crisis and 52 could be hard going for the non-multiverse-literate (principally because it's an awful lot of meaningless jargon to deal with if you happen to just not care that much). they certainly seem to have divided opinion, anyway.

to my mind, it's 52 that's the most effective- an interesting project nicely realised, with lots of wonderfully knowing little in-jokes. i will probably make the transition to four horsemen; and certainly the alleged great ten mini-series, if it goes ahead. have also heard that the new infinity inc is being written by peter milligan, so that could well be worth a look.

if i could recommend one dcu title from last year, actually, it'd be all star superman.
morrison/quietly/grant combo aside, it does presuppose a degree of familiarity with the characters and their respective narrative arcs, and i hadn't read much before that (elseworlds, mainly) working on the assumption that i don't like superman.

which is, it turns out, not true, leaving me with a hell of a lot of catching up to do..
issues 7-9 are bizarro based, apparently :)

I'd say the Endangered Species backup strips were nicely done but a little pointless. They consist of Beast trying various lines of attack on the Decimation problem, and finding that none of them work. This was only needed because the post-Decimation stories in the main titles had neglected to ponder its implications (it took until X-Men Annual #1 or something for them to even answer the question: are new mutants being born?). It does act as a character piece for Beast, mind. I'm reserving my judgement on the Messiah Complex megacrossover until it has finished.

I too have generally assumed I didn't like Superman - I may have to check that out. Except then I'd be buying even more comics. :/ Was amused to see that Bizarro has been introduced into Smallville!

odd. i can't quite imagine how he'd translate onto the small-screen, but it sounds intriguing..

which isn't something i get to say about smallville often, so potentially a good move, then..
