When I worked reading out people's addresses to other people over the phone, there were some names like "Snowdrop walk" (nice name, horrible area).
Oh how I prayed that I'd find someone living in "Soylent Green"
My plan is now to arrange to have a street or estate build just so I can name it Soylent Green. Maybe they could set up a residents association "The People in Soylent Green".
Pollyhaugh (something close to 'polly-hall' but not quite, more glottal stop like, tends to be how it is pronounced) and Eynsford (ains-fudd) are places I have to spell out every time.
I've always found the names of where you currently live fairly amusing though, abigailb. :)

There's an entire estate like that in Southampton.

Theobalds Road = pr. Tibbards
Charmondley - pr. Chumley (however there is a Chumleigh round here)
Chitty street appeals for some reason. I've seen it somewhere but forget where exactly.
