for my next book I am reading Lullaby, which I bought some time ago intending to read on the train, and then never got round to, and was reminded of by an anonymous reader (eek... i have anonymous readers... but who?!...)

Is this Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk (or however you spell his name)? If so, it's REALLY good! (or at least I reckon so)

Read some other stuff by him, especially if you haven't already read Fight Club (I read that book about 2 years ago and realised how good the film was, because there were so many ways it could have messed up so incredibly horribly).

So, yeah... enjoy.

Yes, that's the one. I haven't read Fight Club, but have read Survivor (i think [livejournal.com profile] squirmelia's copy) which was, I thought, excellent. I do also have a DVD of Fight Club here that I bought in a sale and haven't watched yet. Should I read the book first or watch the film?

I saw the film first, and when I read the book later I thought "Wow, reading the book adds a lot of depth to it". As an added plus, if you watch the film first, you'll be able to sit down reading the book hearing Edward Norton's voice narrating the whole thing. (I reckon the casting was damn near perfect for it)

I'd be tempted to say film first as a result: you get the shallower version, rather than reading the book first and thinking "Hmmm, not as good as I expected". It's not that the book is way better... it's just I always find saying "That wasn't in the film" (when reading the book later) is better than "They missed one of the best bits from the film" when you watch it after reading the book.
