After various scandals such as single mothers (not the best career choice when presenting a kids tv programme when you don't know how the management will react) then drug fiends , then wife beating rapists and now we have Florida style vote rigging tactics "that's not a round hole" "that ones got a criminal record" "Winston ? Sounds like a criminal to me" "hey I say we go with Socks Bush as the winning name" I say its time they scrapped a programme whose name and reputation is tarnished and start afresh before they drive all the nations youth into drug dealing and prostitution due to disillusionment with the system

Hmm slight difference between a sickly sentimental Just say no and giving kids a sense of personal betrayal and cynicism that leads them down the road of pain. The grange hill kids were hardly a shining beacon of quality values.
I blame Thatcher. The whole slide in personal morals on Blue Peter started early in the 80s. Prior to that the worst thing they did was cover up the death of petra mk 1 by natural causes due to an overweening belief in protecting the kids from the horrors of sudden pet death syndrome. Whereas these days you'd have to suspect they ran the pet over through carelessness or drug fueled rage
