swiss centre demolition has properly started. they've got rid of the cooling tower on the lower roof (the building is a three storey or so long building, with a skyscraper poking out of part of it), in bits, with their giant crane. they also used their giant crane to move a JCB onto the roof, which was today hacking at concrete. maybe the JCB will cut a big circle in the concrete and then fall inside the building?

yet they still sell tickets out of it.

That says that the proposed 11 story building is lower than existing?

Yes, it will be quite a bit lower. Not found a render of it.

Current tower 14 storeys. Presumably they are demolishing that too?

Yes. It all has scaffolding over it. Can't see what they're doing up there, though.

And that:
The current building is constructed on a thick concrete slab and it is considered not structurally feasible to remove this slab given the uncertain effects on the surrounding area of its removal.

They are committed to retaining the glockenspiel apparently :)

Hopefully they will tune it during the downtime. (and even more hopefully we will have moved office by then).

This (http://www.london.gov.uk/mayor/planning_decisions/strategic_dev/2007/20070905/swiss_centre_report.pdf) is better, apparently the nightclub and theatre didn't have planning permission.

I treasure the thought that the kitsch clanging clock will be upgraded to feature shovel-wielding irishmen and Poles with jackhammers in place of the Julie Andrews lookalike figurines.

So the net realisation for the cinema would have been £135,047,317 MILLION?
Some mistake surely?
