I'm bored and poor. A dangerous mix, as I can't Do Stuff. Will end up probably going to bed with the new Dresden Files book methinks.

I'm bored too and I want to see how many other people will comment to say they are bored as well. It might distract me for a little while.

It's 10 days until my project and report submission, and do you know where your child processes are?

Young spy scouts. They'll turn me in at the first sign of defiance, and I'll be so proud!

There is no butter in Japan. (http://www.globalvoicesonline.org/2008/04/23/japan-where-has-all-the-butter-gone/)

Sure I came across this in an RSS feed the other day, no idea why it stuck in my mind. As you can probably tell by IRC activity, I'm bored too =p

This young woman has lost over half her body weight, which isn't that interesting in itself. However, she's blogged about it in an intelligent and amusing manner but most importantly uploaded 3d interactive progress photos that you can spin round. This kept me amused for a good 10 minutes when I was bored.

it's a browser-game.
I - and many other people I know - are on the Eta server.

People from #afp told me about it and encouraged me to join. there's now an #ikariam channel near #afp.

It's something to poke at once in a while and then leave to run, while buildings build, your people cut down trees, and you slowly build a civilization, ally with other people, beg people to send you marble and sulphur, and so on...

Echoed. IMHO It's one of the best - and certainly one of the prettiest - browser-based strategy games out there.

New colonies are pretty effective time-sinks. As time goes on they need less and less poking, but you can always expand and found a new one =p

I'm trying to decide what to start reading on my commute tomorrow: Neuromancer, Cryptonomicon, or either Only Forward or Spares by Michael Marshall Smith.

I found Cryptonomicon requires sustained concentration to follow.

I went for Neuromancer, for the sole reason that it's smaller and will therefore fit in my bag more easily :) I accidentally bought a hardback along with my recent purchases, and it was a pain in the ass to carry round with me.

An albatross can sleep while it flies. It apparently dozes while cruising at 25 mph.

Hello... just looking for people with similar interests (my f-list is too quiet sometimes), and I'm adding you out of the blue, because really why not? If you think my stuff looks like interesting read, add me back, or if not LMK and I'll take you back off again. Fair enough?
