Doctor Who: Silver Nemesis
Jul. 4th, 2011 10:49 pmMy very slow Doctor Who marathon continues with Silver Nemesis, from season 25.
I found this to be a fairly poor story, with a confused narrative, completely unnecessary Nazis, no real sense of danger (the spectacle of seeing Ace take down several Cybermen with a slingshot firing gold coins, while they were being shot at makes me think not "Ace is awesome" but "The Cybermen are really rubbish").
It also, slightly unusually, features basically no friendly or neutral NPCs that the Doctor and companion interact with in the plot. I can't think of a single instance where this has happened before.
I will say that the performances were generally spirited, the humour usually worked, and the idea of "who is the doctor?" interesting, but ultimately the whole doesn't fit together for me.
