times on postings are configurable but default to the wall time on the machine with the web browser at the time the posting was initiated (not when it was actually made).
times on comments are California time, always (if there is a setting to change timezone I have missed it).
you spend quite a lot of time on the net, doing tech things, have you found how to put your friends list up as an RSS feed yet? I can have a persons LJ up but not my friends list.
In the new mac OS I can have an RSS feed as my screen saver and wanted it to be my friends posts so I can tell when there's something to read even though I haven't woken my machine up.
