Jun. 29th, 2005 03:10 pmI've designed what I hope to be the most offensive flag ever
(the elements are the flag of Nazi Germany, the flag of the United Kingdom, the flag of the Soviet Union, and the former flag of the US state of Georgia, which contains the Confederate Battle Flag).
Any ideas how I can make it even more offensive? I think I could make a batch of these up and sell these to limey redneck communist nazis. The first version doesn't have the United Kingdom flag element, and I think works better as a flag.
Update: Right, I've had a go at sticking thirteen red-and-white stripes on it.
I note that this flag should also offend vexillologists, (particularly the way the blue and red touch).
the flags are, btw, licenced under the GFDL

Date: 2005-06-29 09:47 am (UTC)It depends on who we are trying to offend as offensiveness will depend on cultural background, nationality blah blah blah.
This is quiote good at offending Brits as it stands. Some Americans would also be offended by the confederate swastika and the hammer and sickle but wouldn't find the union flag imagery interesting.
A Guardian reader would probably find all of it offensive. They may find the Union flag offensive in itself. A Daily Mail reader may find the Union flag and the swastika in the same flag but may not get the rest.
If we want to offend Americans in particularly then we need to attack the state religions of Christianity and America. I imagine any subversion of the current flag would do the latter. Stars made out of upside-down crosses?
